MISSION
Hanalei Rug Company is a full-service rug design company, focusing on high-quality, custom-made Tibetan rugs. All our rugs are designed in our studio in Honolulu, Hawaii and completely hand-knotted in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Our time in Nepal has given us invaluable insight into this centuries-old craft, and we continually strive not only to share the beauty of their artwork with the world, but also to support the unique people and culture of this region.

Born of the desire to create contemporary works of art through this ancient medium, our name comes from the tranquil bay on the island of Kaua’i, where we have often found inspiration in the richness of the landscape and animal life.

We believe in innovation. Influenced by the world around us, it is our passion to explore new ideas and strive to produce some of the finest and most distinctive rugs on the market.

PASSION

Having had the pleasure and privilege of traveling, working and living throughout Asia and the Pacific, we have met many extraordinary people. Through these friendships, we have come to appreciate and respect the beauty and wonderful variety of their culture and art.

Through our business, we are able to live our dream of working alongside our friends in sharing our love of their culture with others. From the bright red “tika” (placed on the forehead as a greeting), to the fragrant flower lei, we continue to draw inspiration from Nepal, Tibet and India, as well as Hawai’i and Polynesia.
